Insect Study

Insects are diverse and present throughout most of the planet.  Discover ones who call Fairfield County their home.

Skins & Skulls

Have you felt real bear fur? a fox pelt? See and touch some of Ohio’s mammals’ skins and skulls.

Ohioans say they love Ohio for the ever-changing seasons! What is going on this season in our backyard?

Fish are not necessarily the most interesting things living in Ohio’s ponds. Find out why!

Creek Study

Get wet in one of our creeks while searching for the creatures who live there.

Night Hike

Explore the outdoors at night with one of our naturalists. What nocturnal animal residents will we see and hear? There aren’t many occasions to visit the parks at night, don’t miss this one!

Off-Trail Hike

Head off-trail to parts of a park that few visitors get to see. Due to the strenuous nature of this hike, participants should be at least 10 years of age, in good physical condition and able to hike for three hours.

Birding Basics

A 90-minute walk with one of the naturalists to seek out some of Ohio’s resident birds and some early migrants. This event is to help the novice birder learn what to look for when trying to make an ID.

Woodland Wildflowers

A 90-minute walk with one of the naturalist to search for woodland wildflowers. Will we find Showy Orchis, a Pink Lady’s-Slipper? See the beauty and learn of the folklore and medicinal uses of native Ohio wildflowers.

Warblers Walk

A two-hour walk with one of the naturalists or an experienced birder to search for warblers and other springtime migrants.

Fern Hike

A 90-minute walk with one of the naturalists to identify and learn about fabulous ferns. Will you find a species you have not seen before?

Rock Mill Tours

People come from all over the U.S. and beyond to see Rock Mill and Rock Mill Covered Bridge.  Learn about this 1824 grist mill, the bridge, the area’s history, and some outstanding geological formations.
