Shelter & Facility Rentals

All picnic shelters except the one at Smeck Park are available daily on a first-come basis at no charge.

The picnic shelter at Smeck Park in Baltimore and three of our covered bridges – Johnson, Hartman No 2, Rock Mill – may be reserved for private events such as small weddings.  To check availability and make a reservation, call (614) 321-4833 ext 103 or (740) 652-4422.

Access:  There is no paved path from the parking lot.  It is not possible to drive to the facility to unload and load but the parking lot is very close to the shelter so there should be no problem.

Things to Do:  There is plenty of flat green space near the shelter for playing yard games or even setting up additional tables and chairs.  Your guests can explore Salt Creek, the WPA Pedestrian Bridge, and a short trek to Cross Mound.  Read more about Cross Mound Park.

Description:  This bridge may be used for small gatherings or ceremonies with less than 50 people.

Access:  There is no paved path from the parking lot.  Unless the ground is wet and soft, it is possible to drive up to the shelter to unload and load supplies.  Vehicles must be returned to the lot during the event.

Things to Do:  There is plenty of flat green space near the shelter for playing games or even setting up additional tables and chairs.  Walk through or on top of the remains of three Ohio & Erie Canal locks.  Stroll the tow path or the now-dry canal bed and imagine what life may have been like in the late 1800s.  Examine the structure of Hartman No 2 Covered Bridge.  Enjoy the other picnic areas among the trees.  Read more about Lockville Canal Park.

Description:  This shelter has eight 8′ picnic tables and will seat approximately 48-64 people.  A charcoal grill is adjacent to the shelter.  There are additional picnic tables nearby.  The beautiful open-air picnic shelter was patterned after Rock Mill Covered Bridge is a perfect venue for outdoor weddings, family reunions and special occasions.  The location is especially convenient for residents of Baltimore, Carroll, Pickerington and Canal Winchester and only 15-20 minutes from Lancaster proper.

Access: Those with reservations will be given access to the small parking lot close to the shelter and to electric service.

Things to Do:  There is plenty of green space near the shelter for playing games or even setting up additional tables and chairs.  A playground and swing set is on site.  Examine the 60′-high Stover windmill, visit the pond, walk the two-mile loop trail.  Read more about Smeck Park.

Things to Do:  Feel the breeze and cool air coming up from the Hocking River Falls as you stand on the iconic Rock Mill Covered Bridge.  Take advantage of the magnificent setting and scenery for photography of friends and family, nature at the park.  If your event falls on a Saturday or Sunday from May through October, come early or stay late for Rock Mill Weekends when Rock Mill is open for tours and occasional grinding demonstrations.  Read more about Stebelton Park at Rock Mill.

Settings for Commercial Photography

Everyone is welcome to take photographs at any of our locations.  However, the use of our parks to set up a commercial photography session in which the photographer is receiving compensation and/or blocking access to a certain area of a park for any period of time requires permission.  A Commercial Photography Permit is required.  For more information see Forms & Permits or call (740) 681-7249.
